"A smacking ban is unpopular and incredibly patronising to parents"

Last week the Welsh Government tabled nanny state legislation to remove reasonable chastisement from law and criminalise parents who smack their kids.

Since these plans were first announced, I have repeatedly spoken out against them and called on the Welsh Government to scrap them.  

Community row together to raise funds for school minibus

The fitness levels of Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar were put to the test this week when he took part in a rowing challenge to help raise funds for a defibrillator for the village of Llanddulas and a new minibus for a primary school in his constituency.    

Temporary closure of Llanfihangel Post Office

Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar has expressed disappointment that Llanfihangel Post Office has been forced to close temporarily.

Darren received a letter from Post Office Limited this week informing him that the branch has closed due to “technical reasons”.

Call for ‘guaranteed interviews’ for veterans

Clwyd West AM and Chair Cross-Party Group on the Armed Forces and Cadets, Darren Millar, has called on the Welsh Government to consider introducing ‘guaranteed interviews’ to help veterans access employment after leaving the military.
