AM samples tasty treats from his constituency at Senedd event

Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar got to sample some delicious produce made in his own constituency during his time in the Senedd this week.

Darren attended Wednesday evening’s ‘Discover North East Wales’  Assembly event at which businesses from the region showcased and provided samples of their produce.

Darren was delighted to catch-up with two businesses from Clwyd West at the event, Llaeth y Llan of Llannefydd and Ruthin-based Patchwork Pate.

He said:

“I’ve always known that North East Wales produces many quality goods, but it was a proud moment to see them all on show in the Senedd.

“It was great to meet with Llaeth y Llan, of Llannefydd, and Ruthin-based Patchwork Pate, and to sample some of their delicious products.

“Llaeth y Llan have been producing superb yogurt from their old farmhouse on the outskirts of Llannefydd since the 80s, whilst Patchwork Pate was established in 1982 by Margaret Carter, a talented, although untrained, home cook, who found herself divorced with three children to look after. Despite the commercial scale today, everything is still hand-made in small batches, without artificial colouring, additives or preservatives, to Margaret’s original recipes.

“I am always pleased to hear of local businesses in my constituency succeeding and I wish both these companies the best of luck for the future. It is crucial that we all support the fantastic small businesses that we have here in North Wales by buying local.”
